A child's duck

A child's duck , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. When ever I see a wood duck in full breeding plumage I think of a child with a box of crayons. Some one told the child to colour a duck and this is what they came up with. Too many colours and far too intense to hide from predators.

The close-up , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. As a birder watcher, owls always seem special. Silent death on the wing, in the dead of night. You can't hear him coming, you can't see him either. One minute you are fine and then your not. Great horned owl at a raptor show at Rondeau Provincial Park this past weekend.

Think outside the hive.

Think outside the hive. , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. This bee hive is outside the tree. Normally bee hives are in an enclosed space. This is the only one I have seen that is free form. If you look closely you will see it is covered wirh bees. this was beside the path leading into Estero Llano Grande State Park in Texas

the new boys

the new boys , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. We are adopting two young cats to keep crash company. The names they came with are Harry on the left, and Leland on the right. Crash is bigger than both of them combined yet he is the one who is hiding. not sure if this will work so we will just have to wait and see.
